Horse Gear Canada is already proving, in the short time since its launch, that it is the place to go for great quality equine products at an affordable price. In this article, you will get to know the owner of Horse Gear Canada, Sarah Chambers, and learn a bit more about why she opened the store.
Q: What led you to choose an eCommerce store?
A: I have had the idea for a few years and the time felt right to take the leap. I've actively learned everything I could over the last several years about equine nutrition. I love seeing the results of my education through the horses in my care - they are happier and healthier when the feed they are getting is balanced and tailored to their needs. The opportunity arose to purchase the retail product side of Nickers Saddlery and I couldn't pass it up. Nickers has a great reputation and being able to continue it while Dana Johnsen focuses on her Sensation Ride™ saddle line was the perfect situation.
Q: What do you hope your customers feel when they shop at Horse Gear Canada?
A: The most important thing for me is that my customers are confident in their purchases and their dealings with us. I want their experience to be very positive and for each of them to know that we have their best interest at heart. A lot of my customers are also friends, colleagues and friendly competitors. There's no separation between me and my customers, so that is top of mind when I interact with them and when I choose new products to add to the store.
Q: What are some of your favourite products in the store?
A: That's a tough question. I'm a big fan of Easycare and Just Merino Sheepskin products for horse and rider. Mad Barn offers great quality nutritional products that I use for my endurance horses.
Q: What products are new customers most surprised that you carry?
A: We currently carry three brands of hoof boots and at least 17 different models. We also carry two different brands of composite horseshoes. We also carry a complete line of herbs from Golden Bough which are top quality.
Q: What is your hope for the growth of Horse Gear Canada?
A: My goal is to be the go-to retailer for distance riders, trail and pleasure riders across Canada.
Q: Do you have any final thoughts that you would like to leave readers and customers with?
A: I am so grateful for all of the support that we've had in the months since we opened. I am humbled and excited about the future of HGC. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support.
